Social Impact Report 2024 - 2025
Scaling our impact
We know that real change in wound and lymphoedema care doesn’t come from one organisation alone. It happens when people share what they know, build others’ skills and pull together to make things better for patients everywhere.
Sharing knowledge, shaping better care
We know that real change in wound and lymphoedema care doesn’t come from one organisation alone. It happens when people share what they know, build others’ skills and pull together to make things better for patients everywhere.
In 2024/25 we put that belief into action – expanding our Academy, training hundreds more clinicians and building new partnerships to help good care reach further.
Putting education within everyone’s reach
The launch of our Preston Hub this year marked a big step in widening access to education.
We ran more than 40 accredited courses this year, reaching 507 clinicians through a mix of classroom and online learning. Small groups, usually under 25, mean people can ask questions, practise techniques and get individual mentoring that helps improve practice.
Our most popular courses included:
- Developing Skills in Leg Ulcer Management
- Advanced Practice in Lower Limb Ulceration
- Wound Assessment and Management for general practice teams
We continue to champion safe compression therapy for patients with heart failure and sickle-cell disease, helping community nurses to treat confidently and safely.
Our partnership with Leeds Beckett University has also gone from strength to strength this year, with the Level 7 Wound Healing module completing its third successful year.
Learning from and with others
In 2024/2025 we welcomed 46 clinical visitors from across the UK and as far afield as Sweden and Singapore, all keen to learn from our multidisciplinary approach.
Our commitment to developing future talent also continued through student placements. Lucy, a podiatry student who joined us in September 2024, spent her placement exploring lymphoedema and biomechanics. She observed wound care, compression therapy and gait analysis, gaining first-hand experience of integrated care.
Now working as a Podiatrist at Croydon NHS, Lucy credits her placement with inspiring her to pursue a biomechanical focus in her career.
Learning that travels further
This year we welcomed learners from across the UK – including one based in the Highlands of Scotland, showing just how far our reach now extends.
We also shared knowledge across Europe, supporting the European Wound Management Association’s Masterclass and presenting on compression therapy, antimicrobial stewardship and biomechanics.
Visitors from across the continent continue to spend time with us to see how our model of care works in practice and to exchange ideas that improve services in their own countries.
Great advice and shared experience of higher levels of compression. Overall, a wonderful course which I will be putting into practice and recommending!
LoCUS: 11 teams, one shared goal – better compression care
We’re proud to challenge old habits and test new ideas. This year we launched LoCUS – Localised Compression Ulceration Strapping, a hands-on learning project involving 11 clinical teams across England, supported by industry partner L&R.
Focused on our advanced strapping technique for complex leg ulcers, LoCUS is already:
- Breaking down outdated approaches
- Creating a network of clinicians learning from one another
- Raising confidence in compression therapy and improving healing
Our expertise, now in print
April 2024 saw the publication of our first textbook, Lower Limb and Leg Ulcer Assessment and Management. Now adopted by several universities, it replaces the welcome pack for learners on our Developing Skills in Leg Ulcer Management course.
Clinicians tell us it helps them dip into the academic detail when they need it, deepening their understanding and supporting learning at their own pace.
Whether you’re a clinician, educator or healthcare leader, we’d love to work with you. Explore our courses, collaborate on new ideas or bring our teaching to your teams. Together we can build the knowledge and confidence that lead to more sustainable services – and better care for every.
