Who should attend?

Healthcare practitioners who would like to develop and enhance their theoretical knowledge and practical skills when managing complex, hard to heal wounds.

You must hold a professional registration with a recognised regulatory body.

Learning objectives

  • Critically evaluate the evidence base for wound healing, impaired wound healing, and when debridement is indicated
  • Critically appraise consultation styles in wound assessment that lead to collaborative clinical decision making, consent and the ethics of client wellbeing associated with sharp debridement
  • Critically appraise the evidence base for advanced techniques used in wound debridement and demonstrate how they are safely employed in person centred care
  • Analyse and apply the ethical and legal responsibilities associated with the provision of extended scope of practice techniques for professional registrants and develop awareness of mechanisms for the protection of the public and practitioner

What’s the format?

Blended learning – live and interactive virtual sessions, self-directed study and a face to face workshops. University assessment is based on a critical discussion instead of traditional essays.
