Our social impact

Accelerate is on a mission to improve the lives of patients with lymphoedema and wounds

A social enterprise

Accelerate is a Community Interest Company (CIC) which is a special type of limited company which exists to benefit the community rather than private shareholders and is regulated by The Office of the Regulator of Community Interest Companies.

We are a Membership organisation and have a Membership Council that ensures Members contribute to the development of our strategy. We are also a member of Social Enterprise UK.

Our purpose

Accelerate exists to transform wound and lymphoedema care and improve the lives of the many people living with these conditions. It’s as simple as that.

Like many organisations, following the pandemic we have faced some significant challenges and have had to make drastic changes to the way we work, from offering online consultations to the development of innovative research programmes for our community.

But the one thing we haven’t changed is the fact that Accelerate is on a mission!

Our Vision

“Our vision is for a world where access to effective, responsive and personalised local care for those with lymphoedema or wounds is a reality”

It’s a big statement to make, but one that we see as achievable.

Our Mission

“Our mission is to show that the Accelerate Way will benefit people through bringing clinical expertise, empowerment, education and innovation”

We believe in profit for good, social impact and equity of access.

How we are fulfilling our mission & vision

Read our report to find out how we plan to lead system level change by working with existing organisations so that people with wounds and lymphoedema can get the service they deserve wherever they live in the UK.

You can read about our 2022 – 2023 achievements and how we are Using Our Voice to bring leadership and change. The report provides a review of our impact, feedback from patients and collaborators and sets out our four delivery areas or the pillars of Accelerate’s strategy:
