Appointments and visiting Accelerate during coronavirus
Staying safe together: understanding the ‘new normal’ when visiting Accelerate
What is the situation with COVID-19?
COVID-19 has not gone away, we are simply learning to live with it better and accepting the need to follow certain rules to keep us all safe as we move into the autumn and winter months.
This obviously applies to your attendance at a healthcare setting, where we also need to ensure that we do not become complacent.
It is important that you, as a visitor to the clinic, are clear on the changes we have put in place to protect our staff and patients.
What should you do when you are offered an appointment?
You will begin to receive your appointment letters as before – these can now be sent to you by email if you let the Reception Team know.
When you receive details of your appointment, the first important thing you must do is to decide if you are happy to attend the clinic or if you would prefer to have either a telephone or video call.
If you are unsure please ring us on 0203 819 6022, option 1 and ask to speak to a clinician to discuss the possibilities. You should complete this action within 48 hours of receipt of your letter to ensure we correctly record your appointment type.
The administrative staff will contact you 3 days before your appointment either directly by phone or by SMS. If you do not respond to advise of your attendance, we will automatically cancel your appointment and offer it to another patient.
Appointments – staying safe together:
Appointment tend to last around 1 to 1.5 hours, so please ensure you allow enough time. During the pandemic we’d prefer you to come alone to your appointment, but if you do need to bring a friend or family member for support – please ensure it is just one extra person.
Some things to do while you’re in the clinic:
- Social distancing. Distance yourself at least 2 metres away from other people. We have screens to keep you and our team safe.
- Hand washing. Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds with soap and water or use hand sanitiser.
- Personal protective equipment. Wearing gloves is not allowed in the clinic. But we’d encourage you to wear a face covering.
- Are you feeling unwell? If you’ve any signs or symptoms of Coronavirus, you must not enter the clinic area or treatment rooms.
