Introduction to chronic oedema management skills

This course is delivered as a commissioned package for groups of 10 learners (minimum) up to 20 learners (maximum). Please do get in touch with us education@acceleratecic.com if you would like more information about commissioning this course for your service.

NMC Revalidation

This programme can count for up to 12 hours of participatory learning for NMC Revalidation.

Format

Face to face courses take place at The Accelerate Academy, Centenary Wing, St Joseph’s Hospice, Mare St, Hackney, London.

Who should attend?

This is a competency based 2-day training programme aimed at those who manage patients with chronic oedema and are already competent in leg ulcer assessment.

Learning outcomes

  • Develop an understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system, chronic oedema and lymphovenous disease

  • Increase your knowledge about primary, secondary and chronic oedema, the differences, and similarities

  • Understand more about the use of compression therapy in complex patients with conditions such as heart failure and renal impairment

  • Explore the evidence base for different treatment modalities such as compression bandaging and hosiery

  • Develop practical skills and confidence in using these treatment modalities
