Introduction to chronic oedema management skills

A 2-day competency based training programme aimed at those who manage patients with chronic oedema - can count for up to 12 hours of participatory learning for NMC Revalidation.

Dates 

2 days – both of which must be completed

09:00 – 16:30 each day

  • 1st and 15th March, 2022 – face to face
  • 16th and 23rd September, 2022 – face to face
  • 7th and 15th March, 2023 – face to face

This programme can count for up to 12 hours of participatory learning for NMC Revalidation.

Who should attend?

This is a competency based 2-day training programme aimed at those who manage patients with chronic oedema and are already competent in leg ulcer assessment.

Learning outcomes

  • Develop an understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system, chronic oedema and lymphovenous disease

  • Increase your knowledge about primary, secondary and chronic oedema, the differences, and similarities

  • Understand more about the use of compression therapy in complex patients with conditions such as heart failure and renal impairment

  • Explore the evidence base for different treatment modalities such as compression bandaging and hosiery

  • Develop practical skills and confidence in using these treatment modalities
